So I might decide to put the subaru under a car cover for a few months while I am in Socal over the summer. It's a 95 Impreza L with original factory paint. Last time I used a cover for 2 weeks, I noticed some new scratches on the trunk lid that I didnt see before. What should I do to protect it further, before putting on the cover, and after washing it? Carnuba wax? Clay bar? paper wrap cover held on by painter's tape? Any suggestions? Thanks.

if you are going to park the car outside, you are better off not to have a car cover.  If it's going to be inside, you'll need to put A LOT of moving blankets, towels, etc on top of the car cover to prevent it from moving.  unless the inside of your car cover is made out of fluffy micro fiber material (like the ones I use for detailing), you'll scratch the surface as it moves.  Adam's Polishes did look into something like that, but it's about $1000 for a single cover.  Not sure people would buy it... Cheesy

As for best protection, do 3 layers of Klasse HGSG then follow by 2 layers of wax...  Clay bar is to remove surface contaminants, it doesn't give you any protection.
